Growing up we always placed glasses and cups rim down to keep out dust (I guess), but I am moving to London soon and wonder if others store their glasses rim up or rim down...anybody???

If the glasses are completely dry, you can store them rim down. If they are still slightly wet after washing, rim down will make them smell funny.

If they are dishes you intend to use fairly often and they are inside of a cabinet, rim up should be fine, assuming you do not have a pest problem.

Cheers!

Good quality should always be stored rim up to lessen the chances of a chip. If the cupboards have doors and you clean them out periodically, rim down should be okay. Mine get washed and used so frequently dust is not a problem. Good luck in London!

I store my glasses rim up because when I take them out of the dish washer they might have water in them so I don't want the water to pour all over the shelf.

Rim up to collect dust, rim down to wipe up germs, etc. Isn't it irritating when at fast food places they stick their hands all around the rim of your cup after handling money, and then hand it to you? Or they put it on the counter rim down and slide it across the germ laiden counter. My family always put the rim down in cupboards. I put mine up.
