If the work of art, the original of which you had purchased is patented and if you had purchased the original along with its patent rights, you are well within your right to make a print of it and sell it.

On any orginal artistic work the creator of that art has the absolute monopoly. That is to say that he has a copyright over his work. The copyright Act gives him the right to sell, lease, assign or license this right to others.
If the orginal painting brought by u has a copyright then u cannot sell its copies without the permission of the artist, else it would lead to infridgment of the copyright.
U can sell only if the artist has sold the painting alongwith its copyright.

Absolutely not!! There wouldn't be a copyright on it if you could make copies. Without the artist's permission you would be in big trouble.
