its simple.
"So easy to use, even a caveman can do it."
This commercial is in a world where, imagine this, cavemen DO exist in the normal world. But the stereotype of cavemen are that they're STUPID. You know?
So, when the commercial says -
Geico.com is so easy to use, even a caveman can do it-
they mean: "So easy to use, even a stupid person can do it."
They could of substituted caveman for "baby" and implied the same thing
ex: So easy to use, even a BABY could do it.
but caveman is more..funny. And in the commercial, the cavemen are very smart, and get offended because of the commercial.
Ironic.

One of them looks sooo much like Val Kilmer around the eyes that I always do a double take when the commercials come on.
It's just that Geico online is so easy a caveman could set up an account and someone in market research didn't bother to find out that cavemen were running around still, and now all the cavemen are hacked off at Geico's suggestion that they're all club carrying morons.

It's a double pun: A new 2007 chain saw is so easy to use Adam and Eve could use it. Adam and Eve have no use for a chain saw unless they want to cut the apple tree down. Since they can't read they still could use the saw by picking it and the saw will do every thing for them. I have Geico house Insurance. Suffered severe snow damage, adjustor came looked about and in less than a week had a check in the mail for the damage. Had it been my previous insurance Company, 1) do you have insurance coverage with us; 2) You do? We don't cover that type of damage; 3) where are your receipts; 4)When we sold the policy, we said no receipts were needed for a claim,he he, now where are your receipts; 4) damage was caused by the Moon; 5) you are not covered; 6)Yes you may take it up with your state insurance department.; 7) you live in NYS, here is the insurance department number to call for a second opinion, it's located in Iran; 8) while I'm here I'll collect next month's premium ;9)pay now or your coverage is canceled.
Would you rather not know how to use a chain saw and it still works or read how it works and find out when you need it, it didn't come with a chain--
Geico won't say--sorry you are not covered(when you are), step aside--- next may I help you with your claim he he.

Geico went with a slogan, "So easy, a caveman could do it." The ad plan then moved to notion that there were some REAL cavemen left out there who WEREN'T stupid, so now Geico is supposedly trying to placate these guys (I notice I haven't seen any caveWOMEN yet... ). I suspect that the first two ads were a success, so they're playing off those.
As for the Gecko - he seems to be alive an well - at least I've seen him in a couple of commercials lately... different target audience for the two series of ads, I strongly suspect.

It would appear Geico has managed to walk the razor's edge on this one and make one of the funniest campaigns in a long time. the lizard was cute, not funny. the duck was funny. the caveman is very funny because the concept is interesting in this day and time. and he is a terrific actor. yes, he is primarily parodying black, but not altogether. "even a caveman can do it..." anyone could be fingered such as highschool dropouts, mexicans, handicapped people, midgets etc. it taps that feeling everybody who has felt a touch of discrimination in whatever situation they experienced it. turned down for a job because you suspect but cannot prove it was because you were too old, too fat etc. if you think a caveman looks most like some blacks, well that is your opinion and you get to have an opinion, so long as you don't shout it out at a bloods or crypts meeting. whatever floats your boat, my fine dudes and dudettes. Peace..

The whole point of them is the theme that Geico is so easy to sign up for, even a caveman could do it. So these modern day cavemen watched that commercial and got offended by it.

I liked the Gecko better. They're just saying that cavemen are dumb. And of course, the caveman has to object...
But, still they're still not as bad a those awful Sonic ads. I swear I will never go to a Sonic again! Until they change their ads...

oh man, I love the commercials. The new one with the guys at a party talking on the balcony kills me. Screw the gecko. The gecko kept changing voices. It went from a simple American voice to some British voice and god knows who else is getting paid to do the voice.

It doesnt matter if you like the commercials or not. The ad sticks in your head (proven by the fact that youre Yahooing about it), and that is the whole point of the gimmick.

Commercial implies that cavemen are dumb. Geico is so easy that even someone as dumb as a caveman can do it. I think the commercials are dumb!
