I am looking for my children. They were adopted out by the state of Missouri to a couple in Tennessee while I was incarcerated in prison. Missouri has a law that allows the state to terminate parental rights once a child has been in the foster care system for over an 18 month period. I was incarcerated for 4 years. My children were adopted to the foster parents son and his wife. Their last name is McMicheal and they reside in Tennessee. My children were registered in the Tennessee School system under their birth names while my appeals were being exhausted. I am desperate to find them. I was served paperwork stating that I would be prosecuted if I had attempted to contact them during the legal procedings. All of a sudden, mom no longer contacts or writes them, that is a hard thing for children to comprehend! They are not aware that I am out or looking for them. I have their birth records and SS#'s . Please help if you can. I am very new to the internet.

I was incarcerated for writing checks. My crime was one of poverty, not of violence.

Get a legal consult my dear. ASAP, even if it has to be MONTEL WILLIAMS! Find your babies. God Speed to you, and ask Him (your God),for his help and guidance, He knows how you feel, and what's in your heart. I HATE this crappin fricken justice system of ours some time! And don't let anyone tell you that you HAVE no right to look for your children because "you were a bad mom & went to prison", who are WE to judge you?Heck, I know a lot of women that never went to prison that should NEVER have had children. Mistakes are a part of life, we all make them.
Stand up & be heard!! Don't let them get away with it!
If you are so inclined, i'd love to hear how your journey is going. I'll be praying for the day you can hug your babies again! Until then, hug them in your heart, and keep a daily journal about your quest,ok? Someday it will mean a lot to them, AND you.

Maybe your first step would be to find a lawyer that offers a free consultation. Find out if you have any legal right to look for them. You surely don't want to wind up back in jail. If you don't then as hard as it will be, you must leave things alone until they are legal age. Then you will contact them. Do yourself the biggest favor of all and track every single little thing you do to try to find them. That way you can always show them what you went thru to find them. I wish you all the luck in the world and hope you do find them.

I don't have an answer to your question, but I wanted to tell you that as an adoptive mother, I think what you are doing is important for your children as long as you do it in a constructive manner. If Missouri is anything like California you will not be able to get your children back or even contact them without their parents' permission. If you do succeed in findnig them (and I hope that you do), please contact their parents first so as to not disrupt their lives without warning and cause them unnecessary pain. Their adoptive parents may not want you to have contact with them, and if that is the case, leave them your contact information so that they can contact you when they get older if the desire! Good Luck!

Perhaps if you go to the legal system, they'd try to help you. I'm sure there's a kindhearted lawyer out there who can help. Or you could look them up in the Tenessee phone book.

you should stop looking for them.
prolly they are happy with their step mom and dad.
since you were in prison, i don't think they would feel happy if they found out that you are looking.
