truthfully their are very few benefits to "eating" genetically modified foods, the benefits is in the production capability of genetically modified foods. For instance, if you genetically modified oranges to have a freeze shock protein response that was strong enough to allow them to survive a winter storm, such as the one that recently took place in California and destroyed 75% of the states orange supply, then that would be awsome..... In terms of eating them and getting bad effects? not really,,,, all you are doing is digesting a food that may have the ability to produce unnatural proteins that will most likely not effect you since you take it orally and break down any protein that might infiltrate your body.... So to answer your question, benefits can be stimulating a plant through genetic modification to produce more of a certain vitamin, or substance that has been shown to have therapeutic or health effects.... Other than that i do not know?

Mostly, the benefits are for the growers not the consumers. Some crops have been modified to increase the nutritional content, others to reduce particular fat or fiber contents, but for the most part most genetically modified crops are altered to make them resistant to diseases, pests or herbicides. This makes them easier and/or cheaper to grow.

There are more negatives than positives. GMO's haven't been tested enough to verify their complete LONG TERM safety. They can contain genetic mutations that can cause you problems that your body cant handle.
