I know it sounds a lil odd with all the poop stuff coming from some others on here tonight but really why when we fart do we hike up our butt to one side or another

My husband does this all the time and it is truely disgusting. He's a great guy - but this is one of his not so great habits. He enjoys the feeling of setting it free - it feels like it all comes out rather than being hindered by whatever he is sitting on. It makes him feel more relieved. I think it's really a guys habit, I've never noticed a female do this. It's also one of the ways that guys connect emotionally - you know one of them does this and they all grin and make some joke about how they are in competition or something like that.

I think we do it because it helps relieve the gas without using too much force. If you use too much force you can wind up with a brown stain in your undies or worse. Also you can control the sound of the fart by moving your cheek around as you lift.

I think it's because the air won't pass unless we release the pressure of sitting on it. I don't think anyone needs to hike up their butt to one side or another when they are standing.

LOL! Thanks for the laugh... But um I am guessing this is a guy thing? My brother used to so cruelly do this to me when he would rip a BIG ONE... How mean, I know.... It was either that or if I was laying down on the floor watching cartoons, he would pass right by and let it rip... No wonder, I still get irritated with him...
