No, sometimes I am happy and sometimes I am sad, but I don't pretend to be happy

I don't know if I pretend; however, if I am not, I don't go to work or other places and speak of it. I only discuss it with a very close friend or someone I trust. So, though I don't necessarily pretend, others perceive me to be content because they are not hearing or seeing otherwise.

Only very rarely, and this is when times are really hard, and I really am not content. Usually, my facial features really are "telling", and I would just be asking for family and friends, to ask "what is wrong??" If I know this will happen, and I do not want to talk about life right then, I may pretend. I don't go overboard though, and laugh and smile non stop though. Then it is just fake. I wonder why you ask this......Take care

Not usually; I think I'm mostly happy and content. When facing life threatening situations though I'm not content. I go into a higher reflex like mode wherein I steel myself (aided by adrenaline) to do the "impossible" and do not think about happiness.

Yes. I am positive when I am happy and it brings the best out of me. So I choose to be happy, even if I have to pretend. Infact I dont see a reason to be not happy, coz all the things that God has made for us to be happy are available for free, and rest all else is materialistic BS.

I AM! Happiness is a state of mind and does not depend on the events in your life. Happiness is a choice, and I choose it most of the time.

But sometimes when I'm sad, I do show it, unless I'm like, at a function or something where it doesn't look good to look sad.

I don't honestly hold that we "pretend" to be happy or content.... Not as much as we have believed what we have trained ourselves into accepting as truth.......

If there is change.... then maybe we'll see a difference of opinion thrust on ourselves..... But, until that time is come, we are what we have accepted..............

Ultimately, our emotional life shapes itself around the thoughts we hold. Maybe I'm not 'feeling' it at first, but if I 'pretend' hard enough, my mood WILL shift. If I carry myself tall and smile, and 'think happy thoughts', I shift.

Just as in Peter Pan, if you think happy thoughts, you can fly... metaphorically of course.

I thought it was the other way around.... every sane one is pretending to be unhappy and discontented lest others should feel jealous and disturb the well preserved inner peace.... my logic is that all of us love our life and hate to even think of death!!!
