I don't know if it sounds wierd - but I hear silence!
In a moderately noisy room too, I can just tune into the silence and hear pockets of silence here and there.
I love the feeling.

Only to a trained intelligence can total silence have absolute worth.......

But, there is no such thing as silence.... Even in minute quietness, there is a deafening noise which is so high pitched, we block it out when we have other things to think on.... but when we think of nothing, and no voices or sound is roundabout, that noise is tirelessly present......

It is the energy of ourselves which reasonate through the ear....

The act of hearing does not exist in total silence. Hence, there is no question of hearing anything. The question becomes nonexistent.

I have never experienced total silence. The minute I stop talking to people, I start imagining all the past and future conversations and making up their alternatives, variations and possible improved outcomes:)

Well, if the silence has happened inside too, we would instantly hear everything ever worth hearing in this existence !!!

I think it is virtually impossible to hear total silence. There's always a bee buzzing, a clock ticking, a dog breathing, a plane flying......

High-pitched ringing sound..

Sometimes, if I concentrate a little more, I'll hear someone laughing (in a scaring way).. Or someone crying (a baby)..

It's what's common..

I "hear" (in the same sense that some mentally ill hear voices) my inner friendly "thought voice" singing a happy song like "Mocking Bird Hill." You know how it goes, "Aha fiddle Dee dee dee there's peace and good will, your as welcome as the flowers on Mocking bird Hill...."
