The answer to that is yes. My friend got a used phone (says Boost Mobile on it) and is using it with Nextel / Sprint.

Maybe. The phones have, from time to time, been known to work with the wrong service with little or no work on the part of the customer. HOWEVER, the phones DO have different technologies that can prevent them from working with one service provider or the other, and generally speaking a Boost phone shouldn't work with Nextel service. If you're using a Boost phone with Nextel service and it's working, good for you! If something stops working, you're SOL since any insurance or service & repair program you have won't cover the phone and Nextel care does NOT support Boost phones or vice-versa...and if you have a Boost phone that doesn't have Boost service then Boost care won't be able to help you either since they can't bring up your account. Long story short Boost and Nextel products/services were not meant to work together and if you can force them to, well...it's your call if it's worth it as there's no way to say for certain that it will or will not work. Hope this helps!

p.s. Almost forgot - that subsidy lock crap is B.S. The phone's either gonna work or it's not, and no codes are going to do anything about that. The exception is related to SIM cards, which is waaaaay outside of the scope of your question and not related to it in any way. Again, if you find a magic button that makes a Boost phone work for ya with Nextel service that's cool, but nobody can support that phone for you.

Normally, you can only use a nextel/sprint phone with the nextel service. Go to the nextel site and you can see the present phones you can use with nextel. There are discontinued models of a nextel phone that you can use if you know which ones they are. For example, if you bought an old Sprint Treo 350 you could use it, thought Sprint does not make it anymore. If you knew how to unlock a phone and put the nextel code in you could use it then.

Sometimes....but it won't work for long IF it does. You will get an "enter special code" on your screen after a while.
