If the very action that you use to defend our nation undermines it and damages it instead. I say no. This nation needs to be defended, but it must be done in ways that holds true to the nation it is defending.

Yes.....even though I'm too old for the military, if they ask me to go I surely would. If people want to live the way it is in Iraq, then don't defend this country. Pre-emptive war my fanny. Everyone was sooooooooooo close on 9/11 and believed in what we did. Now because they are tired of it, they want to back out.

The terror cells that are left here will strike and if any person is naive enough to believe they wouldn't shoot because their a friend from college, then think again. Once activated by that phone call...that's all it takes. They are loyal to their cause and they will shoot you...they will set off a nuke....and they will blow up the building where you work just to see people die. If there is one thing I've learned in my lifetime is NEVER SAY NEVER, because NEVER is just around the corner if the military moves out now.

Sorry, got a bit carried away with the truth...but I did answer your question.

EVERY American? Since you said EVERY one I would have to say NO WAY. I am a 32 year old woman...unless the enemy is sitting at my front door (literally) there is no way that I am going to defend this nation....that's why we have people willing to go into the military and get special training to do it.

That depends on the importance each individual places on the rights and freedoms accorded them by our nation - and the respect and gratitude they feel toward the veterans who have fought and died in the past to assure these rights and freedoms remained intact.

In answer to your question, yes, I feel it is every American's duty and obligation to defend this country.

the first modification exists so as that human beings can criticise their own authorities so the authorities honestly acts out the needs of the human beings. Shutting up is "unpatriotic" i might want to assume. yet then because the full of the US authorities looks corrupted by technique of money, money, and extra money, and not in any respect bothering with the votes, what huge difference does it make?

To defend our nation: yes.

To participate in a preemptive invasion of another nation under false pretenses: no.

Furthermore, defend does not have to mean picking up a gun and going after a foreign enemy. Defending our nation could mean standing up against politicians who want to infringe on our core values.

Yes, I believe so. Even if it meant that we had to have a draft. If you are enjoying the benefits of this country, then you better damn well be ready to fight for it. And to answer your question byonjello, I'm here and not in Iraq because I'm 16. I wasn't talking about Iraq, I meant that if this country is under direct threat, then it is the duty of Americans to defend it.

No. I feel being an American gives you the right to not defend the country if you don't want to. That won't make you a good person, a smart person, a patriotic person, or a brave person, but you have that right.
