Some paranoid people think they cause cancer, but that's never been proven to the best of my knowledge.

Other than that, just make sure you turn it off when you wake up and you should be fine.

I slept with one for years. I had only one problem, I woke up one morning with a small burn mark on my side under my armpit area.

There was no mark on the blanket and it never happened before or after that again.

They took them off the market here in Canada a few years ago citing a fire hazard.

Very bad!

Studies have recommended that pregnant women not sleep with electric blankets due to fear of birth defects caused by prolonged exposure to the electric current.
There is a constant magnetic field created by the flow of electrons, which is conducive to cancer, by causing excessive damage to cells in the body.

it's best to use it as the TOP blanket and you'll be fine. Some people with sensitive skin have been prone to minor burns but it's very rare

Nope. Unless it shorts out & catches on fire.
