Minor members
During 1974, AC/DC went through several line-up changes involving their bassists and drummers. Some of these musicians played with the band either for a very short time, or on an occasional basis. There are various contradictory references to the length of time that they were members of the band.
Bass
In February 1974, after the departure of the original bassist, Larry Van Kriedt, Neil Smith joined AC/DC and stayed for around two months before being replaced by Rob Bailey that April.
When Bailey was fired in January 1975, there was no regular bass player until the arrival of Mark Evans in March 1975. In the meantime, the role was filled on an occasional basis by Van Kriedt, Malcolm Young (who sometimes switched from guitar), and his older brother and producer, George Young. There are also a couple of references to Paul Matters playing bass at this time, and also Bruce Howe, who was bassist with Bon Scott's previous band, Fraternity.
Drums
After the original drummer, Colin Burgess, was fired, the band briefly hired Ron Carpenter, then Russell Coleman and then Noel Taylor. Each only stayed for a very short period of time. However, Taylor stayed for the longest of the three, until April 1974, when he was replaced by Peter Clack. Tony Currenti played drums during recording sessions for AC/DC's debut album, High Voltage, but there is at least one reference to Clack and John Proud playing on one track each.
Other temporary members
Stevie Young in the "Blow Up Your Video" Tour.During the early days of the band, their manager, Dennis Laughlin, would sometimes stand in for regular vocalist, Dave Evans.
After Phil Rudd left AC/DC during the recording sessions for the Flick of the Switch album in 1983, ex-Procol Harum drummer, B.J. Wilson, was brought in to help finish the album. However, his contributions were not used on the album.
During the Blow Up Your Video U.S. tour in 1988, Malcolm Young decided to take a break and deal with a growing alcohol dependency, and his place was filled by his nephew Stevie Young from April to November of that year.
On part of the American leg of the 1991 tour, long-time bass player Cliff Williams was briefly replaced by Paul Greg.
