Is anyone farmiliar with cartoon mag Heavy Metal?

Can you tell me what kind of comic book that is? I heard some guy frens talk about it..im curious?

It is made up of art and independant graphic novels based on sci-fi stories. The stories are more often than not adult in nature. The mag spawned two animated movies. Most of the artwork and stories are quite good, but there are some that are not worth reading.

It's the American version of French Metàl Hurlant; since in France comics are considered a form of art (they're sold more in bookstore than on newsstand), so you can more easily find more mature stories and character development (authors are from all around the world); "mature" not necessarily as "for adult" but because this comics are "adult" themselves, compared to Marvel, DC or Disney: although some stories in th US should be easily labeled as "adult only", they're mainly "for mature readers", but also all ages. Usually, you'll find mini-series on one-shot stories.
Somehow like DC Vertigo line, but with a different twist.

Yes some of the material is pretty good but its generally adult in nature. There are movies as well the music in the movies are good and some of the stories as well.

Yes, I am, it is more along the lines of a twilight Zone with some ironic twists in the story telling

It's low brow comic's and animation.cause it dances on porn and bee movie stuff. there was a show on it on the bravow channel and later discovery of all places. mostly the movies are mixture of these. if you seen tale from the cript then you under stand some of this to degree onth bee stuff any way.

im not positive, but ive never heard of the magazine, but ive seen a 3 movies, they are all crazy space/other planets/creatures n stuff, w/ heavy metal music for back ground music
