I was 21 when it happened. My country (Canada) was right on top of the news as the top UN soldier there was Canadian. His name is Romeo Dallaire. He was given under 500 soldiers to save millions and no mandate to shoot through the UN. Most of the western world denied there was a problem and there was little help from many countries. The whole thing made me sick. If you are interested in knowing abit more of the behind the scene facts check out the book, Shake Hands With The Devil, it was written by Romeo Dallaire and goes into deep detail in what went wrong and why no one would help. It is very moving as after he came back from Rwanda he was depressed and attempted suicide. He is now healthy and a Canadian Senator.

it was a horrible event. confidential sources claim it was ochestrated by some big shots in the French government. it's no wonder then that there was hardly any international intervention. i live in Uganda that makes me too close to the ground. we had a spill over of helpless refugees in our country and witnessed corpses floating on lake victoria. our government didn't have to tell us anything, we saw it all.
