Organisms (plural) - What are organisms? What are genetically-modified organisms? Animals or plants that have had their genes altered or modified (changed) in some way. That took 2 minutes.

It should be pointed out that genetically modified organisms have genes added to their DNA, not replaced or changed.

These organisms have a gene inserted to cause them to have a different characteristic.
For instance: a bacterium may be modified to produce a certain chemical.
Also, corn can have a gene inserted to help it resist insects.
