Yes! Pregnancy is more likely at certain times during the monthly cycle. However, it can occur at any time there are relations, and for six or more days before or after the relation. Pregnancy has even occured when relations occured during a woman's period. IOW, there is no "safe" time. Sorry!
Also, some women have their periods during the entire pregnancy.

It is not very likely. You can only get pregnant when there is an egg released and ready to meet with the sperm. By the time your period is about to start, the egg has already been absorbed, and the lining of the uterus has thickened and started to slough off. Getting pregnant is really a tricky, complex deal. The hormones have to be right, the egg and the sperm have to be just right, and the cervical and vaginal secretions have to have the right pH in order to not kill off the sperm.....I say it's just not very likely.
