When I got my ultrasound at 20 weeks, my doctor mentioned that it was odd that the baby was sideways still. She said she should have been vertical by now, but I shouldn't worry about it (not in the birth position yet, just vertical.) I can tell she is still sideways because of her movements (I feel them on both sides of my tummy and they are quite far apart, there is no way she could make movements like that if she was vertical.) I am worried about having a C-section. I'd like to avoid it, but will always do what is best for baby. Did anyone else have issues like this? I'm going to see my doctor on Tuesday, but she's so laid back that I'd like to hear from other mothers and see if I should press the issue more on my doctor or I should just not worry about it. Thank you for your answers :)

My 3rd baby was always transverse (lying sideways). It's really not a big deal. She was that way while I was in labor and turned head down when I was about 8cm along. Babies move while in labor. Don't let the doctors tell you otherwise. As long as YOU are up and moving about while laboring and not stuck flat on your back like they do in the stupid hospitals, your baby will move into the right position s/he needs to be in for birth. Don't worry. Trust your body and trust your baby. And yes, I would say avoid a section if you can. They may not be the "end of the world", but they are not easy either.

There is still a good chance your baby will turn head down, though the further along you get, the smaller that chance. A sideways baby is in a TRANSVERSE position. If you get to about 36 weeks and the baby is still transverse, you may be a good candidate for an external version (where the doctor tries to move the baby into the head-down position by pressing on your belly).
Worst case scenario is a c-section. I've had 3 of them, and they are not the end of the world. Seeing those beautiful babies made it all worth it.
Good luck to you!

My doctor said she was not concerned unless the baby is not in the head down position by 36 weeks, then they start thinking c-section. I wouldn't worry to much at this point the baby still has a lot of time to turn head down.

do you have a long torso. if you do the baby has plenty of room to move and may just feel like laying that way. i wouldnt worry yet you still have a lot of time. my baby is due in less then 2 weeks and he turns alot so i have no idea what position hell be in when hes about to be born. im not to worried about having to have a c section. babies ussually naturaly turn in the right direction when there ready. its natures way. congrates and good luck. dont worry so much its not good for either of you.

Maybe she wants a "Womb with a view." You might have twins. They would be "Wombmates!" When it's time to deliver, call Dominos. Why Dominos you ask, cuz they have Free delivery. Congrats on being a mommy.
