They are one in the same. High-speed internet and broadband are two terms that are often used interchangeably.
DSL, Cable, and Satellite are different types of broadband connections you can choose from. There are others, but these are the most popular and affordable for home users.
You can find a ton of info on the net if you just search.

Broadband and Highspeed Internet are essentially the same thing when used in conversation. Broadband just means that there is plenty of accessible bandwidth that you can contract for by using High Speed Fiber connections such as those contracted for by many cable companies for the home user - or plain old copper wire connections offered as DSL (digital subscriber line) like the ones offered by BellSouth or your phone company. There are two considerations to look at when you consider one or the other option for a home broadband connection. For DSL, you have to live within a reasonable distance from the phone company otherwise the signal lose will be too great to support the broadband connection. Also, in theory and only sometimes in practice, high speed fiber connections like Comcast are faster. In practice they do not usually live up to the advertising. DSL is a dedicated line, so your connection speed will not be limited during high usage times when everybody and there brother is on the Internet. Broadband bandwidth is split over the cable connection, but usually not too bad in my experience. It's up to you. I'm not one of the Slowsky's... My connection is reasonable consistent. I can't get DSL anyway so it's moot.

broadband is high speed internet same thing, and its way way way faster the average dial up speed is 50 kbs and average broadband is 3000 - 5000 kbs so its literally like going from going from driving a car at 50 mph to flying a supersonic jet 5000 mph, downloading something that took 1 hour now only takes a 1 or 2 minutes

high speed is basically broadband and cable...with high speed you dont have to dial in its much faster. with broadband you dont share a line with cabble you do.
there is this cool thing out where they run the internet throught the outlets in a persons house and all you have to do is plug in your computer anywhere in your house and you will get both internet and power but thats a lot of money.

High-speed Internet access or “broadband” allows users to access the Internet and Internet-related services at significantly higher speeds than those available through “dial-up” Internet access services. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) generally defines broadband service as data transmission speeds exceeding 200 kilobits per second (Kbps), or 200,000 bits per second, in at least one direction: downstream (from the Internet to your computer) or upstream (from your computer to the Internet).
Broadband allows users to access information via the Internet using one of several high-speed transmission technologies. Transmission is digital, meaning that text, images, and sound are all transmitted as “bits” of data. The transmission technologies that make broadband access possible move these bits much more quickly than traditional telephone or wireless connections, including traditional dial-up Internet access.
Once you have a broadband connection to your home or business, devices such as computers can be attached to this broadband connection by existing electrical or telephone wiring, coaxial cable, or wirelessly.
Broadband allows you to take advantage of new services not available with a dial-up Internet connection. One such service is Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), an alternative to traditional voice telephone service that may be less costly for you depending on your calling patterns. Some VoIP services only allow you to call other people using the same service, but others allow you to call anyone who has a telephone number – including local, long distance, mobile, and international numbers.
Broadband permits new developments in telemedicine, where patients in rural areas can confer online with medical specialists in more urban areas.
Broadband helps you efficiently access and use many reference and cultural resources, such as library and museum data bases and collections. You also need broadband to best take advantage of many distance learning opportunities, like online college or university courses, and continuing or senior education programs. Broadband is an important tool for expanding educational and economic opportunities for consumers in remote locations.
In addition to these new services, broadband allows you to use existing services such as online shopping and web surfing more quickly and efficiently. Downloading and viewing videos and photos on your computer are much faster and easier. With broadband you can access the Internet by turning on your computer without needing to dial-up your Internet Service Provides (ISP) over a telephone line, which permits you to use the Internet without typing up your telephone line. As of the end of 2004, 35.3 million residential and small business subscribers had opted for broadband connections.

IF YOU ARE ON DIALUP, IF YOU GET EITHER DSL OR CABLE, YOU WILL BE BLOWN AWAY! I MEAN, WHEN WE UPGRADED FROM DIALUP, IT WAS LIKE HEAVEN!!!!!!
CABLE IS FASTER THAN DSL, BUT DSL IS FAST ALONE ANYWAY! THEY ARE BOTH BROADBAND INTERNET, BUT I HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DO UPGRADE YOUR INTERNET!!!!!!!
CABLE IS ABOUT 30 TIMES FASTER THAN DIALUP! BEST OF ALL, AS SOON AS YOU TURN ON YOUR COMPUTER, YOUR CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET. NO MORE WAITING TO GET CONNECTED AND LISTENING TO THE CONNECTION NOISES. NO MORE HAVING TO DISCONNECT JUST TO USE THE PHONE. GET BROADBAND
