When my ipod nano first froze, I couldnt do anything about it because nothing I did worked. I connected it onto the computer onto the itunes program, I unlocked and locked the nano, I pressed the middle and then the lowere button on the nano. But finally, the only thing that worked was to leave the nano turned on the way it was until the battery ran out and then once it was out of energy and totally dead, then I connected it onto the computer and charged it, and then turned it on.
Good luck

Try resetting it:
-First toggle the Hold button (switch it from on to off a few times)
-Then hold down the menu and center buttons until the Apple logo appears; you may need to repeat this step.

Turn it on, hold down the MENU and CENTER buttons for at least 10 seconds, and it should reset.
