So I'm doing a project on food poisoning, and my science teacher wants us to give a description on food poisoning. Well, I looked it up and it only shows diseases that are cause by food poisoning. I couldn't find anything with descriptions that went with food poison. How should I write up the descriptions for it? Should I just describe how the diseases look like or what?
HELP PLEASE!

Its a really interesting question, you could right thousands of words and still miss bits out.
remember there is a difference between food born illness such as E coli 0157:H7 and intoxication. with food borne illnesses you actually eat the living bug, it replicates within you and causes problems. intoxication is different, this is were the bug lives in the food, produces toxins and it is the toxins that mediate the effects, this is the case with Clostridium botulinum.

you could pick a disease and describe it,(remember that they can be both bacterial and to a lesser extent viral)
how is the disease caught?(contaminated food? water?)
what effects does it mediate in the gut? (think cholera, vibrio cholerae)
how does it spread?
is there a vaccine?
how is it treated?
are there nosocomial (hospital acquired) strains? if so are they more virulent?

remember that eating the bug isn't paramount to getting the disease there is interplay:

host defences <---> pathogen virulence
there isn't always disease.

how does a pathogen overcome the host defences?
are there any problems with treatment?

etc

Fast Food restaraunts are generally safe. They throw more food in the trash than you could ever believe. The problem, judging from your question, is that you have a really bad diet. You need to eat at home more often. If you will just eat food that you prepared at home you will not experience this sickness that you are getting from Fast Food. Your really cheating yourself by not eating at home on so many levels. First, there is the cost. Then, the obvious sickness your getting from eating out too much. Dude, go to the grocery store, start with the Shells and Cheese and build on that. your gonna die at 39 eating out.
