I figure that the ablily to clone organs and slow the aging process, we may be looking at a longer life...so how long before we are all living to 150 or beyond? 20 -30 -50 years? What is this going to do to our world?
(Sorry...I am up late again!)

With the right lifestyle, a century isn't so much to ask - and with the right healthcare (read: money) it's within reach. Couple that with cosmetic surgery and the results speak for themselves. But you stated 150 years...

...Technology has a peculiar habit of leaping ahead in fits and starts, including pharmaceutical products and medical services, and I don't think it'll be long (perhaps 50 years at the outside?) before we see wealthy folk looking toward their mid-hundreds. And during that time technology will just keep on advancing...

...So, ask yourself, if technology could keep someone alive till they're 150 years old - with a quality of life - how about 200? And if technology offered that, could 100 years of research, development and healthy living keep us going until we're 300 years old? And what after that? What promise immortality?

If our kids are still alive in 100 years time then there's a possibility that research and development may offer them the opportunity to live for a very, very long time - if not forever. Should they choose to.

I think it will be a 120 years before most people are living to be 150 or more... which is fine with me as I just turned 30.

The thing is most people will be happy by then being plugged into a computer which won't put much pressure on our environment. I don't think living to 150 or even 200+ will be a problem so long as the tech is available to all and the tech is in place to have a sustainable world. My 2cents anyway.

In The Book Of Genesis God placed a 120 year limit on how long a person can live. If that is any indicator we are in for a very long wait for the 150 year life span. If, however, it does happen it is sure going to change the way we look at things.

Because we receive more medical care than any other species. We begin receiving check-ups before we're even born, we're vaccianted once we're out of the womb, we have the knowledge and resources to live a long and healthy life, when we get sick we receive treatment, and medical science has invested more in our species than any other. Take all these luxuries away, and we would not live much longer than other species.

This is a good question and reminds me of a discussion I had with friends a few years ago where we hypothesised that death is actually just desease and that we don't really need to die.

You could think of death as natures way of ensuring a species evolves, so the current generation dies
and a slightly improved one is born. If we could find out what makes us age we could prevent this 'disease'.

If you think about it our bodies are very good at repairing themselves, cells die and give way to new ones all the time. Then suddenly we age and this repairing is less apparent. If we could stop this
then barring getting ill or being in an accident we could indeed live forever.

Probably utter nonsense but something to think about.

I hope never. We already live beyond what we should. We are overpopulated and treat death as a taboo. We have a long history and yet we have learnt nothing. The body goes through the wear and tear of years of use and there comes a time when it's time to go and let new generation take over!

I'm sorry Eva: My bible says that the Lord gave us
3 score and 10 years of lifespan. That's
20-20-20-10=70. People in Genesis lived for
centuries because they had just been made by God.
Methusla lived to be 980 years old. I doubt that
will ever happen again. If we start cloning people,
how will we know our real brother from our cloned
brother....and how about our mother, who is she?

Never I hope... We have waaaay too many people as it is and there is no reason for great, great grandma and grandpa to continue using up the worlds resources after they have got their children started raised and established in the world.

Not to mention it will be awfully hard for them to adjust mentally to so much change. Have you seen anyone that's lived to be 100? They look absolutely miserable.
