A friend and I were having trouble communicating so I sent her an email about how I thought we could help each other with our social anxiety. I also told her how much I valued our friendship, but that it takes communication. I then went on to explain my expectations/hope for our friendship. We've been friends for a year and she's always responded in the past but now she's not. I don't know how to gauge the situation. Does it sound like I was too preachy/controlling? How would you feel?/Any opinions/can someone relate?

Maybe she hasn't seen or read the email yet. I don't think you sound preachy or controlling, but maybe she just needs some time to think? It's good that you two can communicate. I wish that my friend would have communicated with me. I think that no matter what happens, you should know that you tried and that it wasn't your fault. I was really upset over losing a friend recently, but then I realized that it wasn't my fault. I had done everything possible to try and talk to her, to see what was wrong. But sometimes, things just aren't meant to be. You've obviously tried, and I hope things work out for you two. But if they don't and if your friend doesn't see that, then honestly, she doesn't deserve you. Good luck! =]

I do not think you were being to preachy or controlling, but your friend could have taken it that way. I think the best thing to do would be to talk to her about the email and find out if she really did get offended or if there is some other reason why she hasn't responded yet.

Your absolutely right communication is key to any good relationship however for something this important you should use the phone or try face to face. If she doesn't respond then go ahead chuck a brick through her window.

You did not say how long you sent this email. Maybe you should give her some time to respond
