Underwires are a personal choice. For bustier women underwires are more supportive. However Victoria's Secret have come out with newer designs that are very supportive with no wires! A great invention because wires tend to wear holes in the bra after a few washes. Next thing you know the wire is slipping through and poking in your skin, not fun. If you're on the smaller size major support isnt's an issue, like an A cup.

Never a necessity. They make bras now that have "invisible" underwires, or not wires at all that give the same support.
Underwires are always a choice, usually for sagging or larger cup sizes.

I think that underwires are best. I am on the smaller side of the scale. And I have owned both styles. Soft cup bras just tend to hide or even flatten. Underwires that I have owned tend to defind you a little more. The best bra that I have ever owned(and currently up to 10) is the Very Sexy® push-up bra by Victoria's Secret.

Underwire is usually only necessary for women with large breasts or those who have had children and need a little extra lift. Soft cup bras are much more comfortable, but they do not provide the lift and shape that underwire does.

I prefer underwires, I can't stand soft cups. I would say they are more of a choice for sizes A-B, once you're a C on up you start needing more support.
Although, some woman find the wires to cut into their breasts. (Probably because it's not the right size for them, but that's a reason I've heard for not liking them).
I think no matter what size you are, they give you good support, and it makes your cleavage look nicer.
God bless you.

Underwires are a choice. A choice I definitely cannot live without! I have friends who are absolutely not comfortable wearing underwires so I would say it all depends from person to person. The bottom line is, it should fit. And not hurt.

Soft cup bras don't support you enough. Underwires do.
But, it is personal preference on what kind of bra you wear (comfort, convenience, cost, etc.) All sizes wear both kinds.
I personally prefer underwire. I never liked the soft cup ones. I'm 36C now and have been wearing underwires since I was 34C.

The women I have spoken to prefer soft cups as the underwire can jab and poke.
However, those women who are endowed more fully prefer the underwire for better support

I prefer underwire bras because I have bigger breasts and they provide me with the support I need. Something they can be uncomfortable though. It really just depends on you. You should really try going to a Victorias Secret and just trying their bras on and getting fitted. I'm not saying to necessarily go and buy a 70 dollar bra, but just go around different places and find whats best for you :)

depends on the brand. some brands make all sizes without underwires, some do it from a certain size onward, and some put them in for all sizes. It just depends on what feels best for you. For instance, my mom hated underwires, but once I got used to them it was actually a lot better.
