My laptop, windows XP, cannot connect to the internet through the LAN connection. However, my laptop could connect to the internet back in korea where I bought my computer. Also, the internet port is functional because my friends have used their computers on that port. My laptop can connect to wireless here, but just not the lan connection. Does anyone know what's wrong with my computer?!

Right-click My Network Places and go to Properties. Make sure the LAN connection is enabled. Also, see what IP address you're getting by highlighting the entry, then looking over to the left under Details (you may have to scroll down).

If you still can't find anything, you need to go into the properties of the LAN connection. Then sift through all the settings for TCP/IP. There might be a DNS suffix stuck in there somewhere that you have to delete. Also remove any saved WINS or DNS addresses.
