"cctv is fine as long as you dont break any laws, i have nothing to hide"?

Im sick of hearing this.......WAKE UP people. It's a violation of your liberty. Freedom is supposed to be your privilege in this supposed democracy, fight for it. When cctv and id technologies are fully integrated into our society as they nearly are, laws will be changed. If you step out of line e.g. drop some litter, you will be sent a fine directly to your house.
As for making society safer, give me a break. Where were the CCTV cameras at the airport given as evidence of the 9-11 hijackers, oh yes, they have gone missing. Where were the CCTV cameras for the London bombings, oh yes, every single one of them happened to be not working that day, what a coincidence.

"those who would trade liberty for security deserve neither" - ben franklin. all those who "have nothing to hide" should start by inviting the cops to place 24 hour surveillance cams in their homes. people are so ignorant and scared that they don't realize our civil rights are the only thing that seperates us from the terrorists. take those away and we're no better

Exactly. CCTV cameras are there to spy on us normal everyday people as we are easy targets for overpriced fines..dropping a bit of litter, parking on a yellow line, going 3 miles an hour over the speed limit. CCTV never seems to trap the muggers or rapists does it?
Everyone should go out with a hammer, a can of black spraypaint or a powerful catapult on their daily travels and smash these cameras up to pieces!!

I don't think it's a violation of our freedom per se. However, I do think its potential to be abused is nothing short of terrifying.

But you can say that about so many things...

Really what we should fight for, democratically speaking, is a government that won't threaten our civil liberties. Of course, we have to find one first...

well is,nt this the point we are all trying to make we,re caught on camers 450 X a second when we,re out and about now i dont mind if they r catching criminals with these CCTV,s buit they are not terrorist r disappearing tapes are being lost But i bet if it comes to catching u doing 42 in a 40 zone they will catch u out but not lose anything inprocess it,s all too much

big brother is watching and most of the poeple either dont know or dont care or simply miss the whole point of the word freedom
its what over 50 million people gave there lives for in ww2 but today we have even less freedom our freedom of speech is under theat just in case it upsets some religious group or other.
