The war in Iraq is a success (not just succeeding) is because we have gotten the oil fields in our control. Whether you like it or not, that was one of the two main reasons of the war and we have accomplished that objective.

The second objective was to either get the land for israel or weaken Iraq to such a state, that israel could grab portions of it. And that has been accomplished too.

Georg Bush is succesful in his goals. That is why he had the "Mission Accomplished" sign hung.

The israelis found a puppet to execute their brilliant plan through an idiot perfectly.

I believe it has a chance of suceeding, the regimes first of all that are in question, besides Iraq, are only thirty years old,Iran was a very nice place until the PLO facist movements took over, from Saudi Arabia(Arafat)It has basically left this area of the world in a torment of chaos, since around the seventies(during the forming of opec)they realized they(the middle east) had a great marketing ploy(gas wars of the seventies)thats one reason.
During the late seventies and early eighties(Carter-Reagan era) (both parties)put and backed a leader in Iraq(Saddam)He put pressure on Iran(Iraq-Iran war)little did we know we empowered a madman now back to are we winning, yes we are,we were invited the first time because Saddam threatend the middle east region,we are back again because we are sending a message to the middle east, its not oil, though we are trying to stabilize our interest there, but its their oil(trust me we have enough oil here but the green movement wont let us drill it)so we are there,so far weve stopped many terrorist threats that wouldve happened here and abroad,9/11 just was under the radar of what we actually thought could happen, now depending on what happens in the next six months will have significant ramifications on what happens to the middle east, and the rest of the world,I myself support the surge and think its time for the gloves to come off,its war and should be fought as such,we shouldve went into the mosques etc, because there are no rules in war, that is one of the things that is prolonging our efforts(7 steps to engagement for the soldiers before they can react)We need to win,and it seems the entire world is hellbent on destroying us the same way Russia was destroyed, chipping away, and trying to break us the way we did Russia, monetarily, socially, and through divide and conquer

Excellent question. I look forward to hearing what people say. I personally do not believe that this war is a "success" nor do I feel it will end "successfully".
Take care.
