I live on the south coast of New South Wales, does anyone know the best way to get rid of wasps nests. I have at least 6 around my home, about 5cm in diameter. I have always just left them alone but I have 2 little kids and one of them got stung this afternoon. When is the best time to do it?

Amazingly, spray adhesive will work. You can carefully spray the entire nest generously with the adhesive and let it dry. Since it is just liquid glue, it'll dry and you can remove the wasp's nest by hand.
Hope this helps.

Best time would be at either sunrise or sunset. One of the pesticides that is sold over the counter is wasp spray- and it works. Just be prepared to run like crazy away from the nest once you spray it to avoid being stung by wasps coming out of the nest.

My dad waited until night, then took a heavy duty trash bag and a flash light and climbed a ladder to the wasp nest, gently slipped the trash bag under the nest and around it as far as it would go, then took out his pen knife and cut the nest where it joined to the eve of the house. He quickly tied the trash bag closed. Then put it in a metal trash can and put the lid on it. Left it like that for two weeks, then threw it away.

I think your best bet is afternoon but, you should only kill the wasp and leave the nest alone. If you leave the nest with the dead wasp then other wasp won't build near it. Since it most like the phenomenons of this wasp will scare off the other wasp. I have done this for a couple of years and it work.

Spray the nest thoroughly after the sun goes down and you should be able to knock them down when you don't see any wasps going into the nest the next day.

Get a garden hose spray it directly on it at full force close to sunset..that is when most of thewasp will be in the nest....keep spraying..soak it until you knock it down....it will drown them...plus take their nest down. Working in home remodeling I have done this many times even on my own home...it has always worked

There is no safe way to get rid of them. Make sure you spray them from a distance where you won't potentially get stung. Also, its better to try to kill them at night because wasps have poor night vision. They die instantly with fire though, just watch this video I found for you. I hope it helps. Be safe!

whatever you do, dont do what my brother did. he decided to get a spray can of mortein or something, but also used matches (like a flame thrower). Not only did it make the wasps extremely angry, but he also lit his varandah on fire! Its extremely funny to watch the tape - funniest home videos here we come!
