Did you tell him to speed? Even if you did he had the option of obeying the law.
But give him some good advice - tell him to get a lawyer and have the charge reduced to a lesser one like "loud muffler". After you get that first speeding ticket no lawyer can get the next one reduced. Sure it will cost more, but later on no amount of money will save your license.
