They didn't make the stand against the Bears run offence.
Thomas Jones ran all over the Saints, and he was literally unstoppable. Going in to this game, everyone figured Reggie Bush and Deuce McAllister would be making the big plays, but it looked like it was the other way around.
On top of that, Drew Brees didn't play on top of his game. The Saints just didn't perform.

When Bush taunted the Bears on the TD it seemed to work against the Saints....The Bears became more focused after that and after the safety against Brees on the intentional grounding call, it looked as if Brees loss his focus......The Bears kicked in high gear and there was no stopping them today.........but in 2 weeks they will run into a serious Bear trap..........
Colts 31
Bears 17

Because they had less points at the end of the game than the Bears had.

The Bears just out played them and out scored them. See http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/recap;_ylt=AnZCwwpoPLLtu0qJKWWn4_Y5nYcB?gid=20070121003&prov=ap for the recap.
Good Luck!!!
