I mean, everyone from CNN to Fox to the History channel are capitalizing on it!

Even Discovery Channel, and Animal Planet, his home channels, are doing a special starring his young daughter!

Don't get me wrong - the man was a pioneer in animal rights, but the commercialism of it all bothers me.

It is up to the family, I agree with that. But in respects to his name, it probobly is to soon. I mean they waited over 10 years to do anything on Pearl Harbor, they waited over 5 years to do anything on 9/11, and yet people still consiter that not long enough. And yet we are putting this out there after only a few onths. That I do feel is wrong.

The man was a national hero. The least one can do is leave the family in peace for a little while. It is bad enough his kids won't get to grow up with him. But now they have to see his last show on tv only a few months later! So in that respect I do feel it is to sson.

But also think, was it really the family's decision or did someone pressure them to let it be released? Because in Hollywood and in the tv business you never know!!!

I think it's good that they are airing Steve Irwin specials. He spent his whole life and died trying to get people to understand the importance of protecting our world. He dedicated his blood and sweat so others may see many beautiful animals that people may never be able to see or understand had he not. It's our place as a human to protect this world and things we hold dear.
Steve Irwins' family is trying to carry a legacy that their father and husband started. If you were his family wouldn't you want Steve to know he didn't die in vain?
And if you look back on his past shows, his whole family was involved in his plight to save many endangered species. They are looking at the bigger picture- these animals were family to the whole Irwin brood.
I would much rather watch Steve do something he loves than watch American Idol or a new Paris Hilton scandle on TV

And by the way- it took less than 6 weeks for A&E, Discovery, and other tv networks to display shows on 9/11 and how and why it happened in long detailed shows. And Tora! Tora! Tora! came out less than a year after Pearl Harbor and our war with Japan. We as humans are naturally curious, and these shows help enlighten the public

I think that is up to the Irwin family. If they are ok with tv specials being done on Steve Irwin, then I don't see a problem with the networks making these specials.

Many Australians like myself feel that there has been too much focus on the Irwin family, particulary young Bindi. They should be given the time and space to mourn. Having said that, I do believe that Terri Irwin is trying to go on as best she can with meeting many of the commitments Steve had prior to his death and Bindi does seem to be coping with it all. What happens when it all stops as it must inevitably?

Continue his legacy before the next big thing comes along and he is forgotten about I reckon.
