Yes, I'm very much an internationalist.
I had the opportunity to go live in Poland for 1 1/2 years after I left University. I could carry out a conversation in Polish when I left, although I lost most of it. Polish people, having lived under the communist regime, were much more laid back. There wasn't this constant sense of Things-have-to-get-done-right-now. Also, few people in this society were truly isolated. Families were closer and friends were kept at arm's length. I learned a whole bunch from these people. And they sure knew how to party; North Americans are so incredibly uptight in comparison!
I'm also a big fan of far-eastern cultures in general. I dabble in Buddhism, although I wouldn't call myself a Buddhist per se. I am also interested in the thoughts of Confucius and Lao-Tseu, as well as the deep symbology of Chinese culture. I practice Japanese Aikido as well - for the philosophy as much as for the sport. I have a degree in philosophy, but as I grew older, I found western philosophy lacking. It's too cold, impersonal and, ultimately, irrelevant to me. That's why I ended up turning to the Orient for philosophical and spiritual teachers.

Very much so. I have been fascinated with japanese culture for as long as I can remember. I think that the love of other cultures comes form a lack of our own here in america. We really have nothing save violence, and industry. Not a lot of culture to latch on to. The japanese are romantics, artists, people of virtue. Just look a some old ukiyo-e prints, or read some ancient buddhist texts. You'll be hooked! Great question.

I find myself connected to many cultures.... I dont know why really. I just find myself totally enlightened by anything different than my own. Well, I love my own to i guess, but when im in a crowd or shopping at a flea market or wherever, i just feel so .....different. Probably doesnt make sense, but i dont know how else to put it. I connect mostly with the more free cultures like south American culture and Indian culture. I dont know..Its all so beautiful!

I have a pretty big connection with the latina culture, because I've been in a spanish immersion school since I was 6. So I've studied the culture and language almost as much as my own.

I like many cultures I have so far encountered; Korean, Vietnamese, Lituanian, Polish, Italian, Spanish, English, Irish. So far I like Japanese the most. On the surface, the people, tradition, mores, personality are intriguing that verge on enchanting. I believe all cultures have positives and negatives. If I dig deeper I am sure Japanese is no exception...but wouldn't it be neat we learn from each encounter and be better person as a result?

i grew up in the middle east but i still cant see myself associating with that culture. my mother is 100% irish and father 100% palestinian. i guess i relate more to my the irish side because im not fluent in arabic. America is a great place and the fact that so many different kinds of cultures can mesh together is a great thing.

That's easy. I have a special connection with Philippine culture because my wife is from the Philippines. In fact, most of my friends are from there.

Yes I admire some for the quality of life and inventions they have brought forth over the years, and I appreciate them for their good deeds, but not more than my own. For instance the Caveman made the wheel, an admirable thing to do eh? ha ha Chinese for pasta, and egg roll. French for their crepes and cheese I just love that Brie, don't you? And the fashions that Versaci gave us or should I say the Italian heritage etc., I don't like bratwurst but I love Gefilte Fish with Horseradish. But mostly for food reasons. And I have traveled to many countries as well but I love my own American culture best. mish and mosh

Of course, I can name two. Japanesse culture and Arab. I was lucky to live in Japan for two years and really get to know them a little. I have to say they are the most polity, respectfull, and kind people there are. They keep everything clean and are not afraid to use colors in their lives and surroundings. Arabs, is mostly the Arab women that facinate me. I think they have a great amount of respect for themselves and others, and that is expressed in the way they dress and carry themselves.
