I saw the American Idol show for the first time and it is really disgusting. The so called judges are insulting people. best way would be to say YOUR SINGING IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO ENTER INTO THE COMPETITION not need for wierd faces, insults and so on. Of course some people were singing were very bad but it is not good to insult people like that. It really damages those poor singers mentality. I wish the judges get a good wham on their faces. Also I think that if they say someone sings bad and they should sing and show how it is done, surely they too will fail. Nice show but done in a stupid way!

This was my first time watching American Idol. There was no reason for the "judges" to be so cruel--except for ratings!
The three regular judges have no class. There is never an excuse to make fun of the way a person looks. These people are well aware of their imperfections, they do have mirrors!

It appears people with money, fame, and power need lessons in how to be kind and gracious.

Those people all go through a pre-screening process. (PLEASE! there's WAY more good singers out there than what is shown!) They turn many good singers away in the first screening and they put the bad people through on purpose. TV RATINGS HELLO!

And yes, they do sign a contract before all of that. And if they didn't know that they might possibly be insulted then they have been living under a rock for the past 6 years. (Plus they should realize that they can't sing in the first place and save themselves a lot of embarrassment.)

If you go on the show you have to be parpared for what the judges will dish out! Of course they are extremely rude on people, but that's part of the shows appeal. You have to try and reach beyond their opinion, even if you don't get a good review from them. If you have true talent then it will shine-on even after you have left the show. I've seen many times where their were good performances and Simon just didn't like them!

I have not seen much of it, but the little I have, I would say that the people that try out for the show and think they can sing are insulting the people. It's an insult to hav to listen to them! At least the shows where they are finding out who should be on the show...

I think this year they are trying too hard for ratings and not thinking about what they say anymore. I watched one episode when a guy who said he was a singing teacher auditioned and Randy said the students should get their money back and go to another teacher. The shock was to hear Simon tell Randy that he was being too harsh. That is when I changed the channel. I don't like looking at people being embarrassed to death on national TV. I usually wait to watch it when they are down to the final 12.

I have a feeling that people are warned when they go on the show that they are subject to this treatment. I think some have no problem with this as long as they get their 15 minutes fame. I have a co worker who can't carry a tune to save her life and thought about going on the show just because she wanted to annoy Simon!

Yes, I agree.... but who would watch it? Several millions tune it just for the insults!
The whole show is a waste of time until you get to the final handful of good contestants. I don't think I'll be in the majority on this.....

the judges assume that they are there because they believe that they are going to be the next american idol. and what happens is that the judges feel like their time is being wasted by these people who are simply karaoke amatures.

that and somehow its actually good for ratings.

i think these judges need to be replaced.. 6 seasons are obviously taking a toll.

Paula Abdul is drunk or high or something

Jackson looks out of it (doesnt seem to watch as much)

and Simon,, well simon's an ***.

maybe we should get new judges and give those three their proper goodbye.

I appreciate your opinions coming from someone who hasn't seen the downwards progression of the show..as we get used to it, many come to find what once was shocking or inhumane as perfectly acceptable. Especially wrong is insulting disabled people on things they can't help..please see my answer here.
