I have a 360 and PS3 and really enjoy playing the 360 the most. The 360 really has allot of great games out. I play it mostly because of Gears Of War, Prey, Battlefield 2, and Elder Scrolls. I would really prefer the 360 if you have online thought it makes it more fun to unlock achievements and you are able to report people for cheating.

Ok, here is the thing, its difficult to compare the two. The 360 just came out about a year ago, and the PS2 came out what...6 years ago? I personally don't like the 360. They are into action adventure types, like Oblivion, Shooting games is the biggest, Halo among them. For racing, Id say the PS2. Grand Turismo is a great game for racing. My dad, who isn't a really big gamer, he plays GT4 for about 4 hours every friday since it came out. Not only that, but the PS2 has alot of collections, like, Genesis Collection among others. Basically its a collection of mostly great games that alot of people liked.
The ps2 is going to be alot cheaper, and being a mostly weekend gamer, would be more logical. You can get alot of stuff for the ps2 for 300$, as in, the system, memory card, extra controller, and alot of older games. Ebay sells older games for as little as 6$ with shipping. Unless their collectors, then alot more.
The 360 I personally don't like. I played it, and my friend has the low version, no hard drive, no extra fan, and its slow loading, way slower then my computer on the games, and I have a low end middle grade computer, (I have 1.5gig ram, 2.8 processor, and ati 9800 video card, it barely runs oblivion on medium). So, if you want a good experience, youll need to spend extra money, and by the time your done, it nearly equals what a ps3 costs.
So basically, if you want a good, reliable, fun, system, the ps2 is the way to go. Im personally staying in this generation of games, as in, the ps2 era. The PS1 had my favorite games, the PS2 has fun games, but nothing compared to the PS1. I fear the next generation is going to be horrible, plus, spending say...500-1000 on a system and games is insane. I can buy a new computer that would waste the PS3, or 360, for 1200. Of course, thats building it myself and buying the parts cheap.
The ps2 suits your needs the best. Its cheap, if you don't play it for a month you won't feel like you wasted mass amount of money for nothing, the graphics are still great, the racing games are fun, and they have games with alot of old games that people used to play. PS2 wins in every category in my opinion.

if you are not a hard core gamer, i would get the ps2. its a great system, its cheap, and has a million games to chose from. plus, you can get the games for mostly under 15 bucks. some older games you can buy for 5. yes the 360 has better graffics. but it cost 3-4 times more. has 1/1000 of the games. and i heard the system over heats and has glitches. so my advice is to get the ps2. and eventhough there is now a ps3, they are still making games for the ps2. so you can still play for years and years.

Xbox 360 additionally has Netflix, which permits you to bypass limitless quantities of video clips to your television for a sequence fee each and each month. Xbox and PS3 are truthfully the comparable, yet I havent found too many solid video games for the PS3 that arn't already on the 360. Wii is lame, till you're interior the age selection of four-11. each and every of the video games are so immature...
