31x-24x-5.96=6x+.205
7x-5.96=6x+.205
x-5.96=.205
x=6.165

31x – 8(3x – 0.745) = 6x + 0.205
31x - 24X + 5.96 = 6x + 0.205
31x - 24x - 6x = 0.205 - 5.96
now write the last line yourself ...
Guess the only part that give you headache is – 8(3x – 0.745). Don't forget to change sign along the progress, especially when doing a long algebra or calculus problem ;)

Solve,
31x - 8(3x - 0.745) = 6x + 0.205
Expand,
31x - 8(3x) + 8(0.745) = 6x + 0.205
31x - 24x + 5.96 = 6x + 0.205
Rearrange,
7x - 6x = 0.205 - 5.96
x = -5.755

Ok first, get rid of all your brackets!
That means you multiply 8 through.
So that equals to...
31x - 24x + 5.96 = 6x + 2.05
Simplify
7x + 5.96 = 6x + 2.05
Get all the x's on one side... soo
x + 5.96 = 2.05
Isolate x
x = 2.05 - 5.96
x = -5.755
I'm sure you could convert that into a fraction, I don't have a calc on me right now that's all.

There's a negative in front of it!! Lots of kids forget that
So that means you're multiplying through a -8
That's why it became -24x
and that's why is became
+5.96 because a negative multiplied by a negative is positive!
