Ben Harper always makes me a little sad, yet happy. Also known as Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals. I especially like the album "Burn to Shine" and "The Will to Live". All tracks are good although all are not bitter-sweet/sad. The genre is rock however classifying their work is limiting the the scope of the bands diversity.

The living years...by Mike and the mechanics, (They are pop) always makes me cry, here are a few bits of the lyrics..."say it loud, say it clear, you can listen as well as you hear, it's too late when we die to admit we don't see eye to eye. " It's basically about a man who never got a chance to tell his father he loved him or how he really felt when the father was still alive.
My second most emotional song is by Regina Belle and it is a timeless classic called "If I Could" about preventing the child you bring in this world from hurting or suffering any type of pain or heartache if you could. (She is R&B genre)

oops..almost forgot the siren of sad songs....anything by Sade especially King of Sorrow and No ordinary love

An 80's song by Duran Duran about a one night stand that was special called "Save a Prayer". If i had time, i would jot the lyrics down for you, i will email them later...this one had all 10,000 screaming girls swaying and teary eyed at the concert (in '83). It still gets to me...reminds me of one spectacular moment in my life...>>sniff sniff<<
