Very good question. I voted for Harry Brown in the 2000 election. I didn't expect him to win but he represented me the best and I thought he was the best candidate. People who say you're throwing your vote away don't understand. Now if someone like Hillary was running and the polls were showing her leading, I would have to take a rain-check on voting for who I wanted to win and use my vote to prevent her from getting in office. Why I don't want her for president is another story.

Yes, when you do not believe that the candidate is the person to do the job. When voting for a candidate of lesser evil, this is also throwing a way your vote.
When I vote, I vote with my principles.

if you truly believe in his ideals then it is not throwing away your vote. If you are just voting for the person who you think will win, but you don't agree with the platform, that is throwing your vote away.

If you vote for Nader, then yes you are throwing your vote away. Otherwise vote for who you want not who other people want.
