Because Microsoft owns wma and does not own mp3 and because wma allows placing limits on how many copies of a file can be made and mp3 does not.

They are changed to WMA because the codecs used in WMM are only Windows Media ones, which is why MPG movies are converted into WMV. It's a codec that is used especially for Windows, and 32KBPS audio has better quality than 32KBPS MP3 audio.

hi Regwoman. yet another answerer is right. visit NCH and grab "change sound record converter". Convert to wma/mp3/wav and God is conscious what else. unfastened for inner maximum use. Trial lasts for a pair of weeks. whilst it conks out merely reinstall it returned invariably. Cheers, Eric.

They are changed since movie maker only uses Windows Media Applications. I don't know how to keep them that way. Maybe Itunes or realplayer.
