I am 9 weeks pregnant. I have all day nausea, but subsides from time to time. When I am driving or if I am a passenger I get incredibly car sick. I NEVER got car sick before. This sucks because I love driving, and I live in a small town where you have to drive at least 25 miles to get to a hospital or a movie theater. Has this happened to any of you??? What would help??? I might get the braclet thing for motion sickness, my doctor told me about it. I don't think it works but we'll see.

Yes, it happens. I get car sick not pregnant, so when I was pregnant it was pretty bad. Plus if you have all day nausea anyway, this would make it worse. But, good news is your 9 weeks. Hopefully the sickness will get better for you around 13 weeks. It lasted 15 weeks for me. I heard take crackers to nibble on a trip.

I used motion sickness bracelets, and they worked okay for me, but the best thing to do is to eat small, protein filled meals throughout the day. When you wake up in the middle of the night (which you probably do because of your bladder shrinkage), eat a small, nutritious snack. Try not to let your stomach become empty. Avoid excess sugar and caffeine.

Also, you can try making a tea from ginger root, honey, and lemon mixed with warm water. Ginger helps settle the stomach, and the citric acid in the lemon balances your body's pH so you're less likely to get nauseous. Honey is soothing, and it makes a great natural sweetener.

When you drink water, add lemon to it to balance the pH.

If you can't keep food down at all for more than 24 hours, call your doctor. You could become dehydrated, which can cause complications with your pregnancy.

During my morning sickness, my car sickness was HORRIBLE. I had to have my hubby pull over the car many of times for me to throw up. If we were near a friend's or relatives house, I would ask to stop at their house real quick to use their toilet (I'd usually call them and ask them to keep their toilet clear for me.) Just know that it will get better once morning sickness subsides. I still at 28 weeks have more car sickness than normal, but I just roll the window down or listen to some music to keep my mind off of it. Those bracelets never worked for me. Ginger did though, if your doctor okays it, then I would give it a try. I used Ginger before getting pregnant too and it helped me with car sickness.

That is funny, I had the same problem with the smell of fried or frying food. I remember the smell of fried bologna sent me completely outside the house it was so awful. Pregnancies can be as different as night and day - you may not get sick at all the next time. It truly is an adventure every time.

Welcome to my world! Only like 2 weeks after I got pregnant I started getting horrible car sick wherever we went. I was living in a rural part of WV and it was a little ways away to town... I did not and have not found anything that helps... I just try to keep my focus forward and not read anything or turn my head or look down or anything. I try to avoid getting in cars lately, I just cant take it!

I got horribly car sick when I was pregnant. I didn't find a damn thing that helped. I hope you have better luck than I did!
