let x be a number
let y be another number

x - 7 = y [another number is 7 less than the first number]
x + y = 35 [ the sum of the numbers is 35]

therefore, x + y = x + (x - 7) = 35
2x - 7 = 35
2x - 7 + 7 = 35 + 7
2x = 42
x = 21
y = x - 7 = 21 - 7 = 14

checking: x - 7 = y
21 - 7 = 14 ck

x + y = 21 + 14 = 35 ck

Let x be one of the numbers.
Then x - 7 would be the other number.

Since the sum of these numbers is 35, then

x + (x - 7) = 35

let one no b x and other be y.
A/Q x-y = 7 -----(1)
and x+y = 35----(2)

(1)+(2) => 2x = 42
=> x = 21
(1) => y = 21 - 7
=> y = 14
thus 2 nos are 14 and 7

Your conditions:
n = m - 7
n + m = 35

Solve by replacing n in the second equation with m - 7 from the first:
(m + 7) + m = 35

I'll let you finish that. When you solve for m, plug it into the first equation to solve for n.

I think this is right:

35 = (X-7)+X
35-X = X-7
42-X = X
42 = 2X
X = 21

So the numers would be 21 and 14 !

pick one variable as x
say x is the first number
so you have one number x
the other number is x +7
and then add them
x+x+7 = 35
2x = 28
x = 14 and the other number is x+7 so
14+7 = 21

x=y-7
x+y=35

now substitute for x - since you know it

y-7 +y = 35
2y-7 = 35 .......now add 7 to both sides
2y=42
y= 21

resubstitute
x = 21 -7
x = 14

14 + 21 = 35 correctomundo!!!!!!!!!

we did it !

y = x - 7
x + y = 35

x + (x - 7) = 35
x + x - 7 = 35
2x = 42
x = 21

y = 21 - 7 = 14

ANS : 21 and 14
