I've been living at this apartment complex for 2 years, and they suddenly changed my parking spot. I used to be able to come home and park right in front of my door. Now I'm farther away. What's even worse is that most of the time when I come home at night, my parking spot is TAKEN! Yes, we do have ASSIGNED spots. We paid a $10 deposit, yet the building staff can't do anything about a car that's been in the wrong spot unless it's been there for 24 hours! Such BS! So I'm wanting to put some scary nails in some wood and put it at my parking spot to scare potential parkers off. I'm sure the apartment managers will have a problem with it, but I have a problem with not being able to park in my own spot. What do you guys suggest I build!?

If it is your assigned spot, paid for in your rent, why can you not have the police ticket the car? We had that problem in a block I was in some years past. When the guy parked in my spot, the police were happy to ticket him, and we never had the problem again.

The building super should be able to get it towed. If it is on private property, i.e. not on the street, then the caretaker of such property has a legal right to get anyone towed. It would be like if you were living in a house and someone parked their car in your driveway. They can get it towed. I never ever heard of any 24-hour law stating you have to wait 24 hours before towing someone. The complex I used to live at would tow anyone at anytime if they weren't in the right spot. At the very least, the cops should be able to look up the owner of the vehicle and ask them to move it or it'll be towed. I bet you they'd park in the right spot after that.

Make a resume! And move to a house where you wont have to cry about parking so far from your apt. don't be so lazy ! Or go buy a motorcycle and park it there when you leave then you wont have to walk at all , What is so scary about a nail? They probably wont be so lazy and they will get out of there car and move the darn wood and nails.... maybe that spot is easy access for there apt too maybe they cant get around as well as you .... selfish people i tell ya 10 bucks oh my god!

Have it towed.

If its part of your rent and on your lease agreement, your apartment building should be able to do something. It's equivalent to someone camping inside your apartment but they can't remove him until they've been there 24hours.
