I have a Nextel account and want to switch to Sprint. Will I still be entitled to the special instant savings and mail-in rebates, or do they just give me the standard $150 discount since I carried out my 2 year Nextel contract. I figure since I'm new to Sprint I should get all the savings as a brand new account holder, but I am not sure, does anyone know??

You get the same deal, cause it is one company now. Also, you get the same discount as a new customer, except they call it the loyalty customer discount. They could call it the Bush is good discount, just as long as you get the big discount. Also check for phones with discounts. I got the PPC 6700 for $300 after all the discounts, then ANOTHER $100 mail in rebate. REMEMBER, the rebates have to be sent in with like 15 days. I screw up and waited a month. I thought it was 90 days, but I read it wrong. The rebate had about 90 days left. So kiss my $100 goodbye.

Also do not join right away. They may call to tell you if you sign up you may get a 5% discount. I waited, by accident, cause I wanted to save money to buy the PPC 6700. Well a month later, I get a letter saying that if I sign up I would get a 10% discount,

Also read the Ebay site on Sprint phones. There is an item there where a guy is selling for I think $20, info on how to get a free phone or discount on your phone plan. I found it after the fact, but save money. READ the comments everyone says about it, and you CAN FIGURE out what to do. lol All the comments give away the secret.

Now another option. Look at the cricket or pocket phones. $37 a month for UNLIMITED minutes and internet and text messaging too. Their plan is better than any of the major companies. See if one of these two companies have a phone you like. I stayed with sprint cuz I wanted the PDA phone. But when my contract is up and pocket or cricket have a decent PDA phone, I will drop Sprint like a hot potato.

If you switch from Nextel to Sprint, whatever you are eligible for with Nextel (Which will be either $75 or $150 Instant off retail of the phone), you will be eligible for with Sprint. The $150 is basically the same as new customer cost. The $75 is offered to you after one year of your contract and the $150 is offered toyou after 22 months of you contract start date. You will also recieve any Mail-In-rebates.
