No they're not. Intense heat will melt the door seals allowing the plastic interiors to melt down too and ignite...

Well they are insulated. Would I take refuge in one to escape a fire...most definitely not, because not all insulation is fire proof and some is rather hazardous to you health when heated.

I think they are more fire resistant than most other things in your house, my mom used to put her "mad money" in there because of that - God rest her sweet soul

No. It is according to how hot the fire gets. It can burn.
