which is the better crafts store?

I like Michaels better for crafts. Of course Joann's is better for sewing...

Michaels for crafts but JoAnn's for fabric.

For crafts it has to be Michael's because Joanne's craft items are limited.

That depends on your hobby! JoAnne's carries no fine art supplies. You can't buy oil paints, canvases or anything at all in that catagory.
Michael's has no fabric and meager sewing supplies. They both have plenty of general craft work items. But- my vote goes to JoAnne's because if you are on their mailing list you will receive large discount coupons that deffinately beat what Michael's offers.

Michael's, unless you sew. JoAnn's used to be good, but their craft section pretty much sucks now.

For crafts it michaels....sometimes they have the same sorts of things...but Michaels has a broader variety...but if you have a 'BIG' Joannes near you...those are amazing!

Michael's is better. They only do one thing, and it's crafts. Actually A.C.Moores is a better craft store,but there aren't that many around.

Joanne's has good communication with emailing coupons for store and/or web shopping. I like them for that.
AC Moore is good about sending the weekly add via email too with promos and store coupon also.
Michaels is ok but no email insentives, just the ad.
I like AC Moore the best but Joanne's also has the material I and cross-stitch stuff I cannot find elswhere.

Michaels has a ton of variety. Almost anything that you would need you could find their, except sewing supplies. For that, go to Joanns fabrics. They have everything you would need for sewing but not much else!
