It seems like every couple of minutes, a pop up comes up that states:
-----Security Warning - Although this page is encrypted, the information you entered is to be sent over an unecrypted connection and can be easily read by a third party----
What does this mean and how do I get rid of this pop up?

It means that what you are sending can be read by a third party and possibly be used maliciously because the information isnt encrypted. In the settings you can set it to do anything you want it to do, but I wouldn't recommend doing that.

I have the firefox browser and no pop ups like that. But that has popped up when I go to certain sites though

Go to control panel , then to internet properties, then to advanced. Then go to the bottom and uncheck the box that says, Warn if changing between secure and not secure mode.

See if this works. Also make sure you run a virus check.

I'm using FireFox, and love it!!! What I suggest is to select from the menu bar, 'Tools','Options' and look through there to turn off that particular warning. Really easy to do!
