It's completely unfair. Take two highly offensive teams with no defense. It is just a matter of a coin flip to see who charges down the field for a TD or even a FG to win it,

They can use the college system or better yet, just add an extra 10 minute period without sudden death.

Anything would be better than the **** they have now

It's because the TV networks hate overtime games...no one is really sure how much longer they will last and that pushes all the prime-time programming back. So they go with the system that usually produces a quick winner.

But I agree, they should go to the college system. Even the CFL has adopted that system.

Just when momentum was building for change in 2002, the Steelers and Falcons played a 34-34 tie.

As far as the system goes, I prefer the existing NFL system to any other I know of, although they might want to consider moving the kickoff back up to the 35. The college system is way too long and unnatural for my taste. And as for unfairness, each team has 60 minutes to win the game in regulation, so if they lose in overtime, they have no one to blame but themselves.

It seems fair to me. The coin flip is a part of the game ... even in the beginning of the game it amy determine who gets the better wind factor.
Even two highly offensive teams have to be able to play defense and stop the other team from scoring.
So, if you win the toss .... your team gets the first chance to play offense and .... the other team's defense has to make plays. If you lose the toss, your defense has to be able to get the offense another posession to score.
I think it's more even or fair, than just giving both teams four plays to decide the winner.
