First thing you got to do is check fluid level.

Get it to a quick lube place and pay them around $50-$70 for a transmission service (they change the fluid in the pan and replace the filter), If it still will not go into gear, you need to have the transmission rebuilt or get a new one.

from what it sounds like is u either put the tranmission out or blow a trany hose line. put some fluid in it. well check the level and see if its burnt. if so it might be the tranmission being out. put in some fluid if its not burnt. u remember u gotta have the vehicle running to check the level. put some in, then get in the vehicle put it in gear for alittle bit. then put it back in park and look under the vehicle for a wet spot. put ur finger in it. if its a reddish color. u have blowen a line off the trany. look for it if u can fix it. if not take it to a tranmission shop. but it kinda sounds like u blow the tranmission up or dont have enough fluid in it. u running it and putting it into gear isnt good for it. so u probably blow it up. better off going to a tranmission shop. good luck if u end a knew one

If fluid level is normal, check shift linkage on the left side of transmission.

there's not a sensor that will cause that ,you may have transmission out on it,,check the fluid see if its burnt,,if it is you may need a good transmission for it,good luck.

Ussually on the right component of the engine compartment nearest the right headlight assembly. they're typically positioned on a rail, locate the red or gray pig tail and follow it to the gas pump relay.
