I am poor and am not willing to pay $5/lb for grass seed. Anyone know where I can find some clearance 2006 seed? All the stores here only have the expensive stuff or none at all. Thanks.

I really hate to be real here, but if you can't pay for prime stuff, settle for a yard and not a lawn. The old stuff will have a lower germination rate or may not come up at all and will not be a bargain but a waste of money. You may be able to go to a farm store or a hardware store and strike a deal. Depending on where you live, if wire grass grows well, you might be able to detatch a neighbors yard and take the material home to yours and tamp it in. At least you'll have summer grass. Actully, any grass seed you will find at this time of year is left over from last season, there are no new harvests of seed during the winter.

Where in the world do you live? I have a farm supply business and we sell lawn grass seed and the best we have is only $2.20/lb. We also have several others that are very good for less money. I use mostly ryegrass and my yard is beautiful. These are all bluegrass/ryegrass/fescue mixes. You should be able to find a farm supply place that would have economical mixes available.

There might be some types of grass seed that are meant to be put down in Fall, but most of it goes down right after the last frost in Spring.
