Everyone marries for different reasons. Some people marry for mad, passionate, Romeo and Juliet love; some marry for best friend love; some marry for money; some marry to procreate. It really isn't a matter of right or wrong, but a matter of personal opinion. Ask yourself, "If I marry for a companion to have great kids with, will I be able to sleep at night and look at myself in the mirror and know that I made the right choice." Me personally, I would rather spend the rest of my life with someone that was my best friend even if there wasn't mad passion. Some people can't live with that. Do what feels right for you, because you are the one that has to live with the decision you make. Good luck!

You know everyone has a right as to their opinions and choices, and I can't tell you who to marry or when. It is a very hard situation to deal with when you feel alone and so desire to be married. But there is something important you must remember: PLEASE PLEASE don't bring children into this unless you know without a doubt that this relationship will be successful. It would be your responsiblity as a parent to think about the welfare of your child. You must think about if the other person is ready for children. Will they respect them? Will they provide guidance? Shelter? But even with that, you never know. There is so much that children can suffer. It's easy to think of ourselves and being happy. But honestly, it isn't fair. Too many children suffer, today, from broken homes, abuse, and neglect. I'm not saying to not have children ever, because we don't always know which marriages will last. Just be sure that you have done your part to provide your child/ren a good life. We owe it to them. But the choice lies in your hands. Just something to think about. And I say to you...If you seek health in happiness, do what will make you happy. You say "for self-benefit"...Will this be beneficial to you? You give the best to someone you truely love. And, you get the best from someone who truely loves you.

I think it's wrong. Marriage isn't something you just do to benefit yourself. It's about someone you fall in love with and want to spend the rest of your life with.

Everybody marries for self benefit. If they marry for self destruction, then it is abnormal.

Not a good idea. What if you met someone you fell passionately in love with after you just settled for whatever.

it won't work. unless you are really happy and want the relationship you won't be happy so in the long run it won't really work. and even if you make it function i would hate to think of someone spending the rest of their life not fully being happy. hold out for the real thing. it will truly be worth it.

No, it's not wrong. You wouldn't marry for someone else, obviously. I know I wouldn't.
