Depends on your line of work. If you're in politics or religion, psychology has been a successful tool for centuries in herding the ignorant masses and manipulating them to conform to ideologies.
Caring about people and encouraging honesty and openness on an individual level is much better in aiding the cure for ignorance though. When people cease to fear expressing themselves and bettering themselves, the infinite potential in human beings becomes much more apparent.

No, psychology is not intended to be "used on" anyone. It is designed to understand and help them.
Unfortunately, people do try to manipulate other people, regardless of the deleterious consequences, as long as the manipulator realizes some material gain. It is a recipe for disaster.

They don't use psychology on poor people as an affective tool for manipulation. They use dollars.

No, Psychology is the study of the human mind. My books do not mention anything about enslaving those of lesser intelligence. And many people are smarter than you may think.

I studied psychology as a student and as 50 years of life experience, and I have found that the Smarter and educated a person is the Easier it is to use it to your advantage. The ignorant are hard to control, their imaginations aren't developed, and their grasp of higher concepts is generally non-existent.
