We replaced a standard sink with a basin sink and it drains like molasses.

It is hard to tell without seeing it. It may have an obstruction some place in the line and it is also possible that the vent for the drain line was not installed properly. You may also want to check the stopper assembly.

If you had it installed by a plumber he should guarantee his work. have him check it again.

Sorry I wasn't of too much help. Good luck.

The most likely reason is hair and soap scum. The best way to clear it is to clean the P trap. Remove the U shaped piece of pipe under the sink and clean it out. Put a little bucket under it because some water will leak out. If you don't want to open the pipes you can go to most any hardware store and buy a long plastic or metal drain cleaner. It has barbs or a coil on it. When you place it down the drain it catches the debris and pulls it out. Look at the link for an idea of a cleaner. Good luck.

If this happened right after you installed the sink, I suspect, as mentioned in previous solution, there is a venting problem. If you just loosen any of the drain connections, listen for a rush of air. Vent kits can be bought at any homecenter.
Good luck
